Dihaploid corn breeding

The doubled haploid (dihaploid) process can save up to three years of development time compared with traditional corn breeding. Doubled haploids are genetically pure plants developed through special cross-breeding and chemical processes. The dihaploid process:

Increases the overall genetic improvement per year
Produces genetically uniform inbred lines that facilitate parent seed and hybrid production
Increases efficiency in the breeding program, which brings higher-yielding products to the market faster
Gives growers faster access to higher-performing corn hybrids
