MYCOGEN® brand SILAGE-SPECIFIC™ corn hybrids won four of six corn silage awards in the first-ever World Ag Expo Forage Challenge. Entries from seven Western states were judged in three categories – standard corn silage, BMR corn silage and alfalfa hay. Winners were announced at the 2010 World Ag Expo show held in Tulare, Calif., with finalist entries on display for the duration of the show.
All winners in the BMR corn silage category were made with MYCOGEN Brand BMR hybrids. First place went to Nelson Faria of Faria Dairy in Royal City, Wash., with corn silage made from MYCOGEN Brand BMR F2F635. Ray Robinson of Moo Mtn. Milk in Burley, Idaho, received the second place prize with his MYCOGEN Brand BMR F2F297 entry, and third place was earned by Greg Fernandes of Fern Oak Dairy in Tulare, Calif., with MYCOGEN Brand BMR F2F797.

The 2010 World Ag Expo Forage Challenge was open to farmers and ranchers from 11 Western states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Cash prizes were awarded based on forage lab analyses, along with a visual evaluation of the entries by experts in dairy nutrition and forage production.
