Mycogen Seeds Hybrids Earn Top Prize at World’s Forage Analysis Superbowl
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – September 29, 2010
MYCOGEN® brand SILAGE-SPECIFIC™ corn hybrids produced two Grand Champion entries and the Quality Counts winner at the World’s Forage Analysis Superbowl. Winners were announced at World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis., today. The awards highlighted a highly successful overall showing for Mycogen Seeds.
“We are very excited about the outstanding showing by our customers at the 2010 World’s Forage Analysis Superbowl,” says Greg Cannon, forage products marketing specialist, Mycogen Seeds. “The results show that MYCOGEN hybrids continue to produce top-quality silage."
Frazee Farms of Fabius, N.Y., was named the Grand Champion in the BMR Corn Silage category with corn silage made from MYCOGEN BMR hybrid F2F485. In the non-BMR category, Lightland Farms of Stanley, N.Y., took home the Grand Champion prize with its MYCOGEN hybrid TMF94 entry.
In addition, Yippee! Farms of Mount Joy, Pa., earned the Quality Counts award. This year’s rotating silage analysis award was based on crude protein (CP). With a CP content of 9.5 percent on a dry matter basis, Yippee! Farms’ mixed sample of MYCOGEN brand hybrids F2F700 and F2F797 claimed the top spot.
Other BMR winners
MYCOGEN® brand hybrids swept the competition in the BMR Dairy Corn Silage rankings, taking all nine placings. In addition to the Grand Champion in this category, other BMR hybrid winners included Champion Farms, Clinton, N.Y.; Crist Dairy Farm, Homeworth, Ohio; Dallman Farms Inc., Brillion, Wis.; Whiteleather Farms, Minerva, Ohio; Rising Sun Dairy, London, Ohio; Dayview Farm, Rubicon, Wis.; Walter Taylor, Lancaster, Wis.; Virgil Gasser, Creston, Ohio; and Kevin Knapp, Larchwood, Iowa.
