Mycogen Seeds Releases Two New NEXERA® Canola Hybrids for 2012

INDIANAPOLIS — July 12, 2011 — Mycogen Seeds is adding new NEXERA® canola hybrids to its lineup. Two NEXERA canola hybrids are available for the 2012 growing season.

“MYCOGEN brand canola hybrids deliver improved yield performance to give growers increased profit potential,” says John Kalthoff, oil seeds marketing specialist, Mycogen Seeds. “Contracts for NEXERA canola offer reduced risk compared with commodity canola, and now that hybrids are available, growers can experience improved yield potential over open-pollinated varieties.”

New canola hybrids
2012 CL is a 98-day hybrid featuring CLEARFIELD® herbicide technology. The medium-tall hybrid has excellent early season vigor and very good standability. Adapted to northern growing areas, 2012 CL is resistant to fusarium wilt and moderately resistant to blackleg.

1012 RR provides an advanced weed control option available in canola with tolerance to glyphosate herbicides such as DURANGO® DMA® herbicide. The 98-day hybrid features resistance to blackleg and fusarium wilt, making it well-adapted to northern growing areas. 1012 RR boasts excellent early season vigor and very good standability.

Increasing demand for healthier oils
As U.S. and global demand for healthier oils increases, Mycogen Seeds continues to advance its NEXERA canola portfolio.
“By growing our NEXERA canola hybrids, producers can obtain higher-value contracts,” Kalthoff says. “Plus, MYCOGEN® brand canola hybrids are backed by Dow AgroSciences, the company that brought Omega-9 heart-healthy oils to the market.”
