As Executive Vice President - Biopesticides & Corporate Development, Andy Barnes is a member of Mycogen's Executive Committee, which is responsible for overseeing the company's strategic direction. His management responsibilities include supervising development, manufacturing and marketing of Mycogen's microbial and fatty acid-based biological insecticides, fungicides and herbicides and directing the company's corporate development activities and programs.
Barnes was one of Mycogen's co-founders. Before helping to form the company in 1982, he was president of Zymos Corp., a genetic engineering company in Seattle, Washington. Previously, he had been a biotechnology licensing associate in Stanford University's Office of Technology Licensing and a project and process engineer with G.D. Searle & Co.
Barnes holds a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Purdue University and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
