NUT CROPS
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE
on Nut Crops
M-Pede is an effective insecticide-miticide labeled for use on a wide variety of nut crops, vegetables, fruits, field crops, ornamental and greenhouse plants. With a formulation based on potassium salts of naturally derived fatty acids, M-Pede effectively controls many soft-bodied pests, but is low in toxicity to mammals and the environment.
MODE OF ACTION
M-Pede effectively controls small soft-bodied pests. It acts on contact, penetrates the pest's body, breaks down cell membranes and causes rapid death of the target mite or insect.

STEPS FOR SUCCESSFUL RESULTS
1. For optimum activity, complete coverage of upper and lower leaf surfaces is essential.
2. Airblast or air carrier sprayers are recommended. Use 100 gallons or more spray solution per acre.
3. Make two applications five to seven days apart.
USE GUIDELINES
Timing: Orchards are prone to mite outbreaks during warm dry weather when orchards are dusty, and after applications of broad spectrum pesticides which reduce beneficial insect and mite populations. Scout trees and apply M-Pede when newly hatched mites first appear and before they spin webs which protect them from foliar sprays. Target aphids early in the season before colonies are established and protected from spray coverage by tree foliage.
Mixing: Condition water prior to adding M-Pede if total water hardness exceeds 300 ppm (17.5 grains). Use a conditioning agent such as RNA's Tri-ad® 73, Miller Chemical's Spray-Aide, Helena's Blendex® or Latron AG-44M (Triton Ag-44M) by Rohm & Haas. To determine if a conditioning agent is required, have water hardness tested or perform a jar test (see TIP #1003: "Hard Water Testing").
Add the required amount of M-Pede to the water. M-Pede mixes readily with water to form a true solution, so vigorous agitation is not required. Use a defoaming agent to control excessive foaming if necessary.
Application: Thoroughly cover upper and lower leaf surfaces of infested trees. Complete coverage is essential for maximum control. For best results, spray in the early morning when temperatures are cool to promote slow drying of the spray solution.
For best results, use freshly mixed spray. Do not allow tank mixtures to stand overnight.
Emulsified Oil/Enhanced Control: M-Pede works on contact; once it dries, it is no longer effective. Products that act as humectants, such as Sunspray® Ultra Fine Spray Oil, may enhance control when mixed with M-Pede.
Tank Mixes: A 1% solution of M-Pede may be tank mixed with companion pesticides to obtain enhanced or residual control of the target pests. Always read the labels of each pesticide used in a tank mix combination and always follow the most stringent requirements listed among the labels. Always do a compatibility test before making large scale applications with any tank mix combination.
RESTRICTIONS AND LIMITATIONS
Do not use M-Pede with a spreader sticker.
Do not spray M-Pede more than three times within a two week period.
Tank mix combinations with various foliar nutrients or pesticides containing metallic ions (such as zinc, iron, etc.) may be physically incompatible and ultimately phytotoxic. Do not attempt tank mixing with M-Pede without using a compatibility agent.
Use other products for ovicidal (egg) control.
Always read and carefully follow all product labels.
