Mycogen Seeds NatureGard

--Bringing You Agriculture's Future (SM)--

7059 from Mycogen is the industry's first hybrid to contain two built-in sources of corn borer resistance.

The gene responsible for corn borer resistance that has been inserted into 7059 is a synthetic copy of a gene from a naturally occurring soil bacterium called Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt). It produces a protein that is toxic when ingested by first and second brood European corn borer, but harmless to beneficial insects, animals or humans. 7059 is unique in the seed industry, as well, because it contains native corn genes which provide a second source of built-in corn borer resistance.

TECHNICAL BULLETIN about NatureGard™ Insect Resistant Corn Hybrids

Corn

7059 A tall, attractive "dual source" hybrid that combines European Corn Borer resistance from both native genetic sources and an incorporated Bt toxin gene to provide strong protection against both first and second generation ECB.
7559 Built in resistance to both the 1st and 2nd generation ECB derived from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt). This tall, high-yielding hybrid produces long flex-type ears with excellent quality, high test-weight grain. Also expresses a good level of resistance to the whorl feeding stage of corn earworm.
7959 Resistance to the 1st and 2nd generation of ECB conferred by a Bt toxin gene derived from Bacillus Thuringiensis. A tall, showy hybrid which produces ears that flex under favorable growing conditions. Also displays a good level of resistance to the whorl feeding stage of corn earworm.
