As Chairman and CEO, Jerry Caulder has overall responsibility for Mycogen's management and strategic direction.

Mycogen is a diversified agricultural company that develops and markets seeds for genetically enhanced crops and environmentally compatible biopesticides to control pests and increase food and fiber production.

Caulder serves on the board of directors and chairs the Food and Agriculture Section of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), and is past chairman of the Industrial Biotechnology Association (IBA). He has served on and chaired several committees of the U.S. Office of Technology Assessment, given expert testimony before both houses of Congress, advised a number of foreign governments on agriculture and biotechnology, and has been a consultant or speaker to numerous organizations, including The Brookings Institute, The Keystone Group and the World Economic Forum. He has been profiled in Forbes and USA Today, and frequently is quoted in national print and broadcast media. In 1996, he was elected to the National FFA Organization's Hall of Achievement and was selected by the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges to deliver the William Henry Hatch Memorial Lecture.

Caulder serves on the board of directors of Cilcorp Inc., an energy company, and is a member of the Advisory Council on Small Business and Agriculture of the Federal Reserve Board of San Francisco.

A native of Missouri, Caulder grew up on a cotton farm, and continues to own and operate a family farm there. He earned B.A. and B.S. degrees in botany and zoology from Southeast Missouri State University, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in agronomy and plant physiology from the University of Missouri.
