RESEARCH ASSISTANT
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to assist with research and development of scientific/field projects with the corn testing program. This job will include implementing field research and testings plans, recommend and carry out field work, supervise and work with seasonal labor, schedule use of daily labor resources in conjunction with breeder programs and projects to meet research goals, and treat and condition planting seed. This position will also be required to perform, a variety of tasks and activities in the field including planting, irrigating, detasseling, seed set-up, pollination, thinning, insect rearing and infestation of plants, stalk splitting, root digging, rogueing and hand harvesting. Will also set up, operate, maintain and repair field research equipment and commercial vehicles.
This position requires a BS degree in agronomy, plant breeding, entomology, plant pathology or equivalent with course laboratory/field work in experimental methods and design., 0-2 years related experience in a research, development or agricultural environment and demonstrated ability to conduct complex research tasks accurately and with good documentation. Must have a strong mechanical background. Must have or be able to obtain a CDL.
