SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Nickolas D. Hein, Vice President, Global Growth, for DowElanco has been elected to the board of directors of Mycogen Corporation (Nasdaq: MYCO) to serve until the next annual meeting. Hein replaces John L. Hagaman, DowElanco's President and Chief Executive Officer, who resigned from the board.
Hein, 52, is one of five DowElanco representatives on Mycogen's nine-member board. DowElanco, a partnership of The Dow Chemical Company and Eli Lilly & Company, acquired 46 percent of Mycogen's common stock in February 1996, and has since increased its ownership stake to 55 percent.
Hagaman said that Hein, who led the DowElanco team that negotiated the company's alliance with Mycogen, is responsible for deploying DowElanco's new technology business strategies, including licensing, alliances and acquisitions. Hein joined Dow Chemical in 1968, after earning a bachelor's degree in animal science and a master's in agricultural economics from Washington State University. He progressed through a series of sales and management positions and became Commercial Director of Ag Crops for North America for DowElanco when the partnership was formed in 1989. He assumed his current position in 1990.
