Mycogen - Thinex™

Thinex Bottle

--Control Without Compromise--

Thinex™ is a new fatty acid based blossom thinner that promotes return bloom (annual bearing) and increased fruit size and quality. Thinex allows apple growers to reduce the need for costly hand thinning, without sacrificing fruit yield or quality.

CHEMISTRY/ MODE OF ACTION

Thinex is based on pelargonic acid, a naturally-occurring fatty acid found in many fruits. When used according to label instructions, Thinex thins unpollinated blossoms by damaging the flower's reproductive parts (specifically the stigma), which inhibits pollination. Fertilized flowers will not be removed by Thinex.

BENEFITS OF BLOSSOM THINNING

Blossom thinning with Thinex is the first step in a multi-step program to adjust the fruit load in an orchard. The grower can then adjust crop size as needed with petal fall and/or post-bloom thinning agents to achieve the desired fruit load with reduced hand thinning costs. Advantages of using Thinex over other bloom thinning products include:
