Dow AgroSciences announced today that the EPA has issued registration for its new high-load glyphosate called Glyphomax® XRT herbicide. This 5.4-pound formulation of glyphosate offers the convenience of more treated acres per gallon at a rate of 1½ pints, or 24 ounces, per acre as compared to 4-pound formulations.
"Glyphomax XRT is a new, high-performance glyphosate product with the full support and service of Dow AgroSciences," says Nate Miller, marketing specialist for Dow AgroSciences. "While weed control will be the same compared to other leading glyphosate herbicides, we feel growers will come to appreciate the easy-to-measure rate of 1½ pints per acre."
This latest advance in glyphosate also contains a new surfactant for ease of handling and convenient use. Approved for use on all Roundup Ready® crops, including soybeans, cotton, corn and canola, Glyphomax XRT offers non-selective control of more than 100 perennial and annual broadleaf weeds and grasses.
"Bringing this new high-load glyphosate to the market is part of our commitment to our customers to invest in new, improved formulations and products," Miller adds. "Glyphomax XRT is a key piece to one of the industry's most complete crop protection portfolios."
Dow AgroSciences will offer a full service policy to purchasers of Glyphomax® XRT herbicide. The company is also offering a similar surfactant-loaded, 5.4-pound glyphosate product called Durango™ herbicide that does not include a service policy.
Miller says Dow AgroSciences urges growers to use new Glyphomax® XRT and Durango herbicides with glyphosate stewardship in mind. He recommends growers rotate glyphosate with soil-applied residual herbicides or use them as tank-mix partners, and that they choose the Roundup Ready system that best fits their cropping system.
