Effect of Plant Population on Silage Yield

Preliminary Report - Year 1

The following three graphs summarize 1999 silage yield of Mycogen corn hybrids at three final plant populations: 24,000; 30,000; 36,000 plants per acre.  Numbers are an average of 12 observations at 3 locations in MN and WI (first and second graph) and  3 locations in NE (third graph). A trend was observed in 1999 of an increase in silage yield per acre as populations were increased.  However, this experiment will be repeated in 2000 to consider year effects of planting population on silage yield.
