Many Mycogen® brand sunflower hybrids are conventionally bred to produce mid-oleic oil - marketed by processors as NuSun® oil - or high-oleic oil. Both types of oil are lower in saturated fats than already low traditional sunflower oil. In addition, these oils have less linoleic acid and need no hydrogenation. These health advantages earn growers a premium from processors. NuSun is a trademark of The National Sunflower Association. |
